AND, they JUST announced a summer reunion tour in 2016.
(and I’m not just talking about the leaders of the free world: the Spice Girls).
The pop-country crossover was happening at an accelerated rate due to this:
I find their fashionably clueless wardrobe BOTH endearing,
but also genius to their craft because there was no flair, thrills, or cheap tricks,
just really great, honest, and well constructed songs about Wide Open Spaces.
(AKA Their Best Dressed Year)
Thanks to Destiny’s Child, there was a system set in place for girl groups in the late 90’s: each girl wear a different color and show as much belly as possible.
They had this perfect way of oscillating between high glam…
and looking like they lived in Star’s Hollow with Lorelai Gilmore.
Motherhood was very en vogue in 2003 and all three women were making and having babies.
With the release of Home,
the girls were growing up and showing a softer side
compete with clean lines, earth tones, and some boho realness.
“Just so you know, we’re on the good side with y’all. We do not want this war, this violence, and we’re ashamed that the president of the United States is from Texas.”
With their amazing Not Ready To Make Nice Video, the girls showed their mourning (and how chic and sleek they could clean up).
And more black.
Hated by many, but loved by a wider and even more diverse audience now,
they continued winning awards and slaying the red carpet.
Their fashion game was super fierce too.
