Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials are saying now that it’s unlikely Paris Hilton will be serving out her full 45-day term in prison. They estimate her time in lockup to be more like three weeks or even less, “allowing for credit for time served for good behavior” whatever that actually means. “We look at Ms Hilton as we would any other low-level offending female inmate,” said a Sheriff’s Department spokesman. “There are issues that will come into play here, including her criminal history, the nature of the offense and the population of the facility. [T]he decision will be made at the time she is booked into the jail. We do this with every single inmate.” But even if she served only half her sentence, said Loyola Law School professor Laurie Levenson, it would “still be a significant wake-up call for her. Twenty-four hours might be enough. Those minutes can seem like hours.” So can any time spent with Hilton, we hear. Meanwhile, when Governor Schwarzenegger was asked if he would consider pardoning the heiress, he said, “I’ve never gotten a request, but I have many more important things to think about.” (LA Times; image via Janet Charlton)
