Movie star and e-Surance insurance spokesman Dennis Quaid announced last month that he’s set to tie the knot with 26-year-old PhD student Laura Savoie. Many on social media have pointed out this flies in the face of the Standard Creepiness Rule, i.e. that the age of the younger person should not be less than half the age of the older person plus seven years. Meaning Dennis should stick to women 39.5 years and up.
He, however, is unbothered by the age difference and finds all the surrounding hullaballoo amusing.
“Everyone comes from the perspective of their own life and so I can’t comment on the way they feel; I can’t even get angry,” the actor says. “I didn’t go out looking for an age gap or someone really younger than me. I met her at a business event and then the relationship developed. You have no control over who you fall in love with.”
I don’t know, I don’t have a solid opinion one way or another, but she’s certainly a lovely woman and I can see why he’s always smiling like the cat that swallowed the canary.
