The non-profit Caron Foundation has refused Extra‘s request to send a camera crew to cover its Monday-night benefit at Cipriani in New York. The benefit will honor Reiki master Ann Dexter-Jones for her work in the pediatric intensive care wards at Caron’s treatment centers, and Joss Stone and Sean Lennon are scheduled to perform for such guests as Matt Dillon, Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick, and Christie Brinkley – whose attendance should not imply that they are now or have ever been patients at a Caron rehab. Dexter-Jones’ son, DJ Mark Ronson, will work the turntables. (Dexter-Jones is also the mother of Lindsay Lohan’s “friend” Samantha Ronson.) Unlike Promises, that high-visibility rehab center in Malibu which wantonly allows paparazzi and cam crews to shoot its celebrity clients, Caron doesn’t want its patients used as PR tools. “The foundation isn’t going to allow any invasion of privacy to promote their rehabs,” said a spokesperson. “Caron wants its guests to be protected and private.” But with that no-paparazzi policy, why would a celebrity feel compelled to go there?
