Rapper Dax has just released his track “BLACK LIVES MATTER,” filled with harrowing and inspiring footage shot during America’s current moment of reckoning about police violence.
In the video directed by Damien Sandoval, Dax repeats the haunting phrase “I can’t breathe,” Dax, aka Daniel Nwosu Jr., mentions r.i.o.t., which he notes stands for “(r)evolution (i)n (o)ur (t)ime.” He calls on everyone to speak up: “Everybody has a voice don’t you dare stay silent; if you say nothing you are an accessory to violence.”
The song is a departure from much of his earlier work like “Cash Me Outside” with Danielle Bregoli. Recently Dax has been focusing on social issues, like his anti-cyberbullying anthem “JOKER.”
