The Obama administration began its federal prosecution of Dan Choi today, Choi was arrested last November after handcuffing himself to the White House fence in protest of the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy. Over the weekend Dan tweeted that he hoped to submit this video as evidence. Dan is charged with one federal count of failure to obey the lawful order of a police officer, but as the video shows, Dan was handcuffed when asked to leave. And as Dan did not have the key to the handcuffs, it would appear that he was incapable of obeying the police order. Dan stated that he rejected a plea deal and requested a trial, where he said he intends to defend his First Amendment right to stage a peaceful protest for a “just” cause. (via JoeMyGod)
