Last year hip-hop legend Da Brat married Jesseca “Judy” Harris-Dupart, and this year they will be welcoming a baby!
Da Brat (aka Shawntae Harris-Dupart), who is 48 and experienced a miscarriage last year, told People she was not ever planning on kids until she fell in love with Harris-Dupart:
“I never thought I was going to have kids. I just thought it wasn’t in the cards for me. I’ve had a great career, a full life. I felt like, because I didn’t get pregnant earlier on, then it just wasn’t going to happen for me. I started looking at life so differently. I was like, I want a little me with you. Something special from the both of us that we can share and raise and love unconditionally.”
Da Brat had a 1994 breakthrough with her album Funkdafied, which sold over a million copies. She went on to have a string of hits throughout the 1990s.
Da Brat was about that life for a while, which led to a string of legal troubles in the early 2000s. It’s great that she has settled down into domestic bliss with her wife!
