Lady Gaga, Lady Shmaga.
Yes, yes, her “Stupid Love” is fantastic and we love the lewks and we’re happy the gays have something to talk about at the club tonight… but…. but…
Harry Styles has released a video for “Falling” – the heartrending sixth track off his Fine Line album – and it is EASILY the most fabulous video of the YEAR. Of the NEW DECADE. Possibly EVER. I am NOT EXAGGERATING.
In it, our sad little prince is wearing a jaw-dropping grey chiffon peignoir and a number of equally stunning cocktail rings as he plays the piano in a crumbling manor house. The piano begins filling with water, because this a surreal video dreamscape and that’s just what pianos do in these places, don’t overthink it. Water continues to pour out of the piano and flood the room, drowning Harry and his chiffon gown in a way that will have you gagging at the eleganza… and probably tearing up a bit.
“I’m in my bed/And you’re not here,” Styles sings in the opening of the track. “And there’s no one to blame but the drink and my wandering hands.”
“Forget what I said/It’s not what I meant,” he continues. “And I can’t take it back/I can’t unpack the baggage you left.”
“What am I now? What am I now? What if I’m someone I don’t want around?” Styles asks in the lyrics. “I’m fallin’ again/I’m fallin’ again/I’m falling.”
