Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the Emmy-award winning star of Veep, opened a spirited debate on social media during the final night of the DNC with a series of jokes….
Introducing the evening, Louis-Dreyfus said she can’t wait to see Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris debate current Vice President Mike Pence – except she pretended she didn’t know how to pronounce his name.
Some on social media thought it was not appropriate, like this exchange with former Presidential candidate Andrew Yang,
“Meeka Pints? Or is it Paints?”
“It’s pronounced ‘Pahnce,’ I believe. Or some kind of weird foreign name.”
Louis-Dreyfus said, before using a phrase liked by Trump,
“Yeah, not very American sounding… That’s what people are saying, strongly.”
The back-and-forth was an apparent jab at those who mispronounce Harris’ first name, as Trump sometimes does. Fox News host Tucker Carlson came under fire for mispronouncing her name and saying “So what?” when corrected.
Her best zinger of the night was, in my opinion,
“I’m a union member, climate activist & patriotic Democrat or as Donald Trump will call me in a tweet tomorrow, a washed-up, horse-faced, no talent, has-been with low ratings.”

The night also featured a segment from Sarah Cooper, a comedian known for her lip sync with actual Trump audio… she was funny, and then she got serious.
