Reddit sent its tech nerd readers into a frenzy Sunday afternoon when a user shared a recent (?) photo of a man who suspiciously looked like the late Apple founder Steve Jobs. Of course, Jobs died in 2011 of pancreatic cancer, so this couldn’t POSSIBLY be him… or could it?
The man in the picture (below) is seated on a plastic chair in Egypt, wearing a flow-y robe (instead of his trademark black turtleneck and jeans), and an analogue watch (instead of an Apple watch). And therein lie the clues.
See, the robe jibes with Jobs’ well-documented Buddhist sensibilities. The non-Apple watch would make sense because Apple tracks your whereabouts, and a man who faked his death would want none of that.
And via Daily Mail:
The Apple icon was known for often placing his hand on his chin while he was deep in thought, and eagle-eyed viewers on Reddit noted that the man in the image was doing the exact same thing.
‘He has the pose down. This is super weird. Very close resemblance,’ one remarked.
Of course, others point out that Jobs’ nose was more defined and pointy and “there would be no way he would still be alive while his wife is flinging with various men.” Vulgar, but possibly true.
Several others shut down the speculation by noting that Jobs’ biological father was Syrian, meaning it was not unlikely there would be people in the neighboring country of Egypt who looked somewhat similar to Jobs.
Another Reddit user also put a dampener on the claims by positing that Jobs would never let Apple take the turns that it had in the eight years since his death.
‘I want to believe, but Jobs wouldn’t mentally be able to just let Apple rest on it’s laurels for as long as it been,’ they stated.
Below is the picture. What do you think? Is Steve secretly alive and well and living off his billions in Egypt? Or is this all a bunch of hooey and I’ve wasted your time?
