HBO Documentary Films president Sheila Nevins will receive a lifetime achievement award at the DOC NYC festival in November and we couldn’t be happier! Nobody BUT NOBODY deserves the honor more.

As president of HBO Documentary Films, Nevins has supervised the production of over 1,000 documentary programs for the network. She has received 32 Primetime Emmy Awards, 34 News and Documentary Emmys and 42 George Foster Peabody Awards. During her tenure, HBO’s documentaries have gone on to win 26 Academy Awards. She is also the author of the New York Times bestselling book You Don’t Look Your Age… and Other Fairy Tales.

Also getting a Lifetime Achievement that evening is Errol Morris (who directed the Oscar-winning The Fog of War and Standard Operating Procedure). In addition there will be two more Visionaries Tribute honorees who will be announced in the fall for the Leading Light Award, given to a mid-career industry leader; was well as the Robert and Anne Drew Award for Documentary Excellence that goes to a mid-career filmmaker.
Nevis and Morris will receive their awards at the festival’s fourth annual Visionaries Tribute lunch.
