John Waters is the latest to receive his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
It honors celebrities in four categories: motion pictures; television; recording and live theater/live performance.
Waters told the Baltimore Fishbowl by phone from Provincetown (where he’s spending the summer as always),
I would be honored if a show-biz wannabe pounds the pavements of Hollywood over top of my star, just like I did over others’ the first time I ever went to Los Angeles.
I’m thrilled.”
I walk up and down that still. The last time I was in LA, I stayed on Hollywood Boulevard… I walked over those stars. I am really excited about it!
Are you kidding? I wish my parents were alive.”
“I certainly didn’t imagine any of this happening." The first time John Waters visited Hollywood, for the premiere of his film “Multiple Maniacs” there may have been little indication that he would one day have a star on the Walk of Fame. https://t.co/5vfFBZuZNL

Other notable recipients of their own star this year are Uma Thurman, Paul Walker, Mindy Kaling, Martin Lawrence, Ralph Macchio, Lenny Kravitz, Blake Shelton, Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn.
This is the second big LA-related honor in the past month for Waters, after the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures announced plans to mount an exhibit entitled Pope of Trash, starting next summer.
Waters said he doesn’t know when his ceremony might be.
We are hoping that it is very close to when the Academy Museum show opens in Los Angeles. That would be the greatest tie-in…
Wherever they put me, I’ll be fine. I’m happy wherever they put me.”
Hey, maybe there’s space on Hollywood Blvd. in front of World of Wonder headquarters!?
