Of course, the big topic of news today is the multiple Emmy nominations of RuPaul, RuPaul’s Drag Race, and RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked. Really, truly, it is cause for celebration. But if you look down the complete list of nominees, you’ll see a number of other really great people and shows. The Handmaid’s Tale, Stranger Things, and Westworld all benefited from Game of Thrones not being in contention this year. Saturday Night Live had its best year in FOREVER (no surprise), with Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Vanessa Bayer all getting noms. And personal faves like Chrissy Metz (This Is Us), Laverne Cox (Orange Is the New Black), Jessica Lange (Feud), Tituss Burgess (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), and our late friend Carrie Fisher (Catastrophe) were all given some Academy love.
