When American Collectors, an upcoming documentary with the too-clever subhead “a film about people who collect things,” was sneak-screened at the Antique Purse Society Convention in San Francisco, a collector recognized a vintage purse in the film considered to be the world’s largest beaded purse, covered in one million beads, and appraised at $250,000 back in 1928. Until the bag was recognized in the film, the collector had no idea what she had. She plans to give it to the Smithsonian. The purse collection doesn’t show up in this awesome trailer that makes you want to throw away every chachki you own before it’s too late.
