Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Chris Pine and Jake Gyllenhaal are both in discussions to join Johnny Depp and Meryl Streep in Disney‘s movie version of the 1987 Stephen Sondheim musical, Into The Woods, which will be directed by Rob Marshall of Chicago fame. The movie is a ploy to cash in on all that money earned from the recent trend of casting stars not known for their singing in Broadway musicals beloved for their songs. You know, like Mama Mia! and Les Miserables. And also that other trend of converting childhood fairy tales into noisy overblown big-budget movies. At the moment, though, Chris Pine is content singing the praises of his Star Trek sequel to any press who will listen.
