Chet Hanks doubled down on his anti-vax stance in a new video posted to his Instagram, following a storm of criticism for the video he posted the day before.
In the first Instagram video, Hanks shared that he’s tired of wearing masks during the pandemic and downplays the coronavirus as
“the flu.”
He begins the post seeming to encourage people to trust the long-standing science around vaccines and claiming that he had COVID…
“I’ve been on the fence about this for a while, that’s why I never spoke on it
But with the amount of people I know recently that have gotten COVID, and with the numbers rising, I think it’s important for me to say I got the vaccine, I think everybody should. It’s really important that we all do this.”
He then mocks his initial comments. In the brief video, which he captioned,
“SUPER IMPORTANT PSA GUYS LETS GET THRU THIS TOGETHER”
He says that he lied about having COVID and says that he won’t be stuck with a vaccination needle…
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I never had COVID. Y’all ain’t sticking me with that motherfucking needle.
It’s the motherfucking flu. Get over it, OK? If you’re sick, stay inside. OK, why we working around y’all? If you’re in danger, stay your ass inside.
I’m tired of wearing a motherfucking mask.”
In the new video posted to Instagram on Wednesday, a shirtless Hanks (whose rap name is Chet Hanx. Um, no thanx.) begins by referencing the furor from his initial video…
“OK, I’m gonna keep this real simple for you guys. Real simple. OK.
Just like you have the right to be mad at me because I said I’m not going to get the vaccine…I have the right to not get that shit.”
He concludes the video rambling about the FDA and aliens.
OK, let’s be real — 99 percent of your motherfuckers wouldn’t use a shampoo that’s not FDA approved but you’re willing to get some experimental government injection. OK, there’s more evidence for UFOs being real than that vaccine being healthy for you.
I wanted to [get the vaccine], but my immune system said, ‘it’s good.’ OK. It doesn’t need to be tampered with it said, ‘it’s good.’”
Hanks is the son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson who were hospitalized because of COVID last year and have been firm advocates of people getting vaccinated.
No word from Mom & Dad, so far. No doubt they’re SO proud.
#Update: Looks like Luke thought better of his post because it’s now been deleted. (Maybe he got a phone call from Dad…?)
