Check out these photos of Cher and Cyndi Lauper performing last night – both KILLED it! Cher, who justly described herself as having graduated from a diva into an icon, put on a seriously impressive SECOND farewell tour after her FIRST farewell tour, eleven years ago. “And what’s your granny doing tonight?” she asked after coming down from a 20-foot column with mere fishing line to prevent her from (in her words) “falling to my death.” The crowd went wild. Cher put on a performance that rivals any current artist today, and at one point after slipping into a vintage ensemble she spouted “take that, Katy Perry!” The show was filled with more costume changes than I could count. Cher also added the perfect amount of self-deprication – referencing back to when she was just starting out, in the “days of John Quincy Adams.” She knows she’s an icon, and at 68 she can still dress up, slay, and “be fabulous.”
The production would not be complete without vague references to antiquity, feathers, and a tasteful but wild array of costumes. The dancers were spot on and Cher looked divine and timeless as ever!
Cyndi Lauper‘s voice was impeccable. She was rolling, jumping, spinning around stage, and at one point even held a disco ball and light stick up to her head. The gays, straights, young, old, gypsies, tramps and thieves all came out in droves last night – and for good reason!
