From the BlackBerry of Fenton Bailey:
The reason we were in Marikina City, the Philippines, was to film inside the Marikina City Footwear Museum, opened by Imelda Marcos in 2001. Technically, it’s not just Imelda Marcos’s shoe museum; President Arroyo donated a single solitary pair of pointedly worn shoes. Imelda has been much pilloried for her shoe collection, but less reported is that fact that shoes are a key export of the Philippines. Although nothing compares to Imelda’s collection, only a few of her reputed 3,000 pair were on display here. Still, it was an embarrassment of riches. The Get Smart / Ring My Bell shoephone was a personal fave. Later, as we quietly went about filming, WOW producer Simon Kerslake discovered that a red shoe was missing! Oh, and the day we were there, the worlds largest pair of shoes were in for repair.
