Hmmm. Infectious new song from French pop star Petite Meller. The video is stylish and fun… her outfits are totally on fleek… and that Harajuku makeup is completely koo-koo. And yet. I don’t know. Having a white woman dancing in an African village is just automatically problematic, isn’t it? I can hear the YouTube comments already: Is she fetishizing indigenous people? Objectifying their culture? Using those little African children as accessories? I don’t know. I don’t know. I like Petite Meller (she looks like the love child of Mia Farrow and Die Antwoord’s Yolandi Vi$$er). And I like the song. I really do. I just… don’t know. What do YOU think? Watch the video and let me know.
