Sandra Bullock plays Loretta Sage, a kidnapped romance novelist, and Channing Tatum is the book cover model who wants to save her in the new trailer for The Lost City. He’ll have to do it before his competitor played by Brad Pitt takes over.
Daniel Radcliffe plays archvillain Fairfax, who snatches Sage and takes her to the jungle to look for said Lost City. Everybody looks as if they are having a lot of fun in this!
Pitt’s cameo happened because of a mutual connection with Bullock: their hairdresser Janine Thompson. EW reports that thanks to Thompson, Bullock agreed to appear in Pitt’s Bullet Train in exchange for the Lost City cameo. Tatum told EW:
He came in and played a certain character that fits into this weird world, and just signed up for it completely and wholly. I’ve met him, but to get to work with him was a whole different thing. I couldn’t focus. It was really an out-of-body experience in a lot of ways.
Folks of a certain age will be reminded of Romancing the Stone, which is fine by Tatum:
They just don’t make movies like that anymore. This is sort of one of those moments to see if we can land on a new version of that sort of genre movie… This is a completely unique, original story,”
Not going to lie, this looks like a romp, and Bullock is always great with deadpan comedy like this.
