Celine Dion confirmed today she is canceling 42 dates in total of her Courage World Tour, but she says she’s working with her medical team to get back on the stage.
I’m so sorry to disappoint all of you once again…
and even though it breaks my heart, it’s best that we cancel everything until I’m really ready to be back on stage…
I’m not giving up… and I can’t wait to see you again! – Celine xx,”
As we reported in December, Dion has been dealing with the effects of stiff person syndrome.
The Stiff Person Syndrome Research Foundation describes it as
a neurological disease with autoimmune features. Symptoms include muscle spasms, hyper-rigidity, debilitating pain, and chronic anxiety. Muscle spasms can be so violent they can dislocate joints and even break bones.”
Dion revealed in December that her spasms can cause
difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to.”
The Courage World Tour kicked off before the pandemic, and Dion’s plans to start it up again were halted by the rare disease.
Health comes first! Get well soon, Ms. Dion!
