We spent the better part of Saturday afternoon waiting by the stage door after a matinee of “Spamalot” trying to score some autographs from the three leads (Curry, Azaria, Hyde-Pierce). The alley was packed with folks waiting to catch a glimpse of the stars. Christopher Sieber was the first to come out (notice that I didn’t say “star”) and proceeded to walk around looking a tad confused, as no one was asking for his autograph. Finally, a fey young thing (probably 15 or so) shouted out “Christopher! Over here!” and Christopher, finally with a mission, came over to sign for his one fan. He then proceeded to start grabbing Playbills out of folks hands and signing them without permission as he moved around the barricade. Hank then came out to the adoring crowd to a rousing burst of applause and some cheers. A forest of Playbills appeared as he moved about signing all he could. It was then that I noticed Justin Bateman working his way through the crowd. As he got closer to the barricade and the stage door, you could hear the whispered queries of “hey, he looks like a star… but who the hell is he?” moving through the crowd. The doorman/security guard came up to him and he and Justin exchanged words, the best being “you’re on the list right?” as the doorman shot him a questioning look.
2 Obstructed view seats to “Spamalot”: $100
Scoring Tim Curry and Hank Azaria’s autographs: $0
Hearing Justin Bateman’s B-list status confirmed by a security guard: Priceless.

[Ed note: We assume Justin is really Jason; sister Justine causing confusion.]
