You may have seen my post about the hotel portion of Rem Koolhaas’ CCTV complex in Beijing set ablaze by a stray firework. Here are some photos showing the aftermath of the fire. The building looks completely trashed. A friend from architecture school suggested that Rem would probably prefer the building be left this way, scorched and unrepaired. Rem’s preference aside, considering the current state of the global economy, this hulking post-apocalyptic mega-sculpture may stand untouched, charred and decaying for several months, if not years.
