According to reports, the network has ordered a script for a retooled Brady Bunch – a reboot – a multi-camera series co-developed and executive produced by Vince Vaughn to be written by Mike Mariano of My Name Is Earl fame. The new Bunch will differ from the old Bunch in ways so numerous as to render it virtually unrecognizable. The new one will feature a divorced Bobby Brady, with children of his own, remarried to a woman who also has children, and there will be one child the two made together. A kind of zesty child stew. Meanwhile, the couple’s exes will still be a contentious part of their lives, of course. The changes are meant to reflect the evolution of family dynamics that have occurred since the original series first aired four decades ago. Back in 1969, Sherwood Schwartz, who created The Brady Bunch (as well as Gilligan’s Island), was forbidden by the network to make Carol Brady a divorcée, and her first marriage remained an unspoken mystery. Now all hell is bound to break loose with penis and vagina jokes aplenty. If any of this happens, that is.
