Pouty-lipped humpmonkey Cameron Chuffe has been cast as Superman’s grandfather, Seg-El, in the SyFy pilot Krypton. Set two generations before the destruction of Supe’s home planet, the series follows Superman’s grandfather (Cuffe) — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.
Via Deadline:
Destined to be the ancestor of Jor-El (future father of Superman) and Kal-El (the future Superman), Seg-El is the scion of the once-prosperous El family and is blessed with an intuitive brilliance for all things technical. He now is living in Krypton’s lowest caste after his family was stripped of its rank.
Series star Cameron Cuffe joins young British actress Georgina Campbell, who was cast in the pilot as the female lead of Lyta Zod.
Lyta would, of course, be the grandmother of Superman’s mortal enemy General Zodd. DUN DUN DUUUUUUNNN.
This is Cameron’s first big role. He was cast in the Meryl Streep sleeper Florence Foster Jenkins earlier this year, but other than that, his IMDB is rather sparse.
I did find this interesting tidbit about him in a 2011 article in the Barnstable Patriot of Massachusetts:
Cameron Cuffe, who has been accepted into a new acting school in Dublin, comes from a family who has summered in Osterville for decades. Pictured here, he portrays the world’s most famous vampire in a production at his prep school, Choate, in Connecticut.
And there are enough signifiers in that sentence to let us know that he’s from a very wealthy family and would make a lovely husband for any one of us.
Below, a few pics of Cameron for your afternoon perusal.
