I’m sure you remember the story: Teen lovers Michelle Carter and Conrad Roy met while on family vacations, then later conducted much of their romance via text. When Conrad, 18, became despondent and expressed his desire to end his life, Michelle egged him on, even going s far as to offer him tips and suggestions how to go through with it.
In his 2014 suicide note, he wrote: “To Michelle, this life has been challenging and troublesome for me but I’ll forever be in your heart and we will meet up someday in heaven.”
Michelle was eventually sentenced to two-and-a-half years (with 15 months suspended) for encouraging her boyfriend to commit suicide. The judge ruled that it was her texts that eventually pushed the mentally ill teenager over the edge.
Now, Lifetime is making the movie of their tragic love affair – Conrad & Michelle: If Words Could Kill – starring Bella Thorne and Austin P. Mckenzie.
It debuts next month.
