From The DW: “After three months and 3.8 million suggestions, the contest for the next Lay’s potato chip flavor is down to three candidates: Cheesy Garlic Bread, Chicken and Waffles, and Sriracha. All three flavors will be available in the stores next week, although some Instagram photos suggest that a select group of stores put the new flavors out early. Following a trial period of taste-testing, the last standing flavor will be put to vote in May on Facebook and Twitter and the person behind the winning proposal will earn $1 million dollars or one percent of the chip’s 2013 sales, if they exceed that amount.”
And as intriguing as the idea of chicken-and-waffle-flavored chips sounds, I just don’t know if I can allow myself to get involved. I don’t know that I can dare to BELIEVE. I’ve been burned too many times before. I remember the heartbreak of the holiday-themed Pringles. The promise of Pumpkin Pie Spice, White Chocolate Peppermint, and Cinnamon and Sugar. And after WEEKS of driving to bodegas in Bakersfield and Ralph’s in Riverside on dodgy Facebook tips and coming up empty, I finally had to admit that it was all a publicity stunt. That NO SUCH PRODUCTS exsist, except in the Pringles lab in Weehawken and maybe a Target in Akron. I’d been duped. So, NEVER AGAIN! I will not waste my weekends chasing these down. However, if someone wants to send me a bag, I will be happy to eat it.
