We’re living in hard times. The coronavirus numbers are surging, people are out of work, the nation is depressed, and people are struggling to pay rent…. But pop star Cardi B had a fashion problem last night, so she took to Twitter to get some advice. Should she buy that $88,000 purse that she’s had her eye on? It’s tempting. It’s right there. She could use it on the red carpet, or when she’s surprised by the paparazzi, or just hanging with friends. What do you think? I mean, it’s only $88,000? Right?
Should I spend 88K for this damn purse ? Omggg it’s tempting 😩😩😩

Twitter was appalled, as you can imagine, and most responses were along this line…
Cardi we are going through a really rough time right now & a lot of people r scared that they won’t even be able to put a roof over their heads or food on the table. I love you but we r still going through Covid and the government isn’t doing shit to help us and hasn’t 4 months.

In response, Cardi offered to match donations to charities if people shared their receipts. “I will match what you donated and match your donation to that same charity or foundation,” she tweeted. “Lets match energy.”

She also pointed out that she has already donated millions of her earnings this year. “I already donated 2 million dollars this year and I’m doing something very special in a another country that will be done with next year,” she tweeted. “What have you donated ?”

She later apologized for the initial tweet, while criticizing Donald Trump’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. “Ok guys I apologize. There you happy ?!” she wrote. “I don’t see ya askin trump for a apology when he out here missing COVID meetings to play golf.”
But…. in the end… the lure of the $88,000 bag was too much resist.
It’s really gorgeous but it goes up in value by the year. https://t.co/hYj7ElteRb

It’s her money to do with what she pleases. But maybe next time, have this conversation with one or two of your best Judys and leave it offline.
