Michael R. Jackson‘s buzzy show won big at the Tony Awards, earning our own RuPaul her first Tony Award among many other accolades.

A Strange Loop won big at the Tonys overall, as the show honored Jackson with a statue for Best Book of a Musical in addition to the top honor of the night. Before becoming one of the most nominated shows of the season, the musical was the recipient of five Drama Desk Awards, two Lucille Lortel Awards, six Outer Critics Circle honors, two Obie awards, one Off-Broadway Alliance Award, and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical after debuting at Playwrights Horizons Theater in 2019.
