Sad news today: Police were called to the home of TV Tarzan actor Ron Ely, 81, where they discovered his wife of 35 years, Valerie, dead from multiple stab wounds. Deputies searched the premises and found a male suspect, who the Sheriff’s Dept. says “presented a threat.”
Several deputies opened fire and killed him.
Although the Sheriff isn’t confirming the suspect’s identity –or what his relationship was with Ron and his wife – TMZ obtained a police dispatch audio where a first responder describes an “elderly gentleman” on scene saying his son was somehow involved in the incident.
Ron Ely is best known for having portrayed Tarzan in the 1966 NBC series Tarzan, where he famously did all of his stunts for the series, and suffered two dozen major injuries in the process, including two broken shoulders and various lion bites. Various lion bites? That’s pretty baller.
He also hosted the musical game show Face the Music, the 1980 and 1981 Miss America Pageants, and appeared on five episodes of Fantasy Island. Oh, oh, and he was also in the Wonder Woman (TV series) 2 part episode The Deadly Sting. Yes, yes, I remember him well.
More news of this as the story develops.
