Lady Gaga is following the Babs blueprint –sort of backwards. She’s heading to Broadway! Rosie O’Donnell revealed that a Broadway revival of the classic musical Funny Girl is in the works, starring Gaga and herself. O’Donnell told the audience at New York’s Paramount Theater that Gaga would take on the role of Fanny Brice, which was of course made famous by Streisand.
The news comes just days after the premiere of Gaga’s big screen debut A Star Is Born which earned impressive reviews for its director, Bradley Cooper, and its stars, earning $43 million in its opening weekend, making it one of the highest debuts for a musical drama ever. It’s is a front-runner in this year’s Oscar race with are predicting a Best Actress nomination (win!) for Gaga.
Gaga has already won a Golden Globe for Best Actress her guest role on American Horror Story: Hotel.
Streisand won an Academy Award for her first film role. Will Gaga too? Can she EGOT? Easily.
