Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, will plead guilty to three federal charges, the Justice Department said Tuesday in a court filing.
Hunter Biden will plead guilty to two federal tax misdemeanors and one charge tied to gun possession, according to the filing in a federal court in Delaware. The gun possession charge will likely be dismissed, if certain conditions are met.
In a brief statement, White House spokesman Ian Sams said,
The President and First Lady love their son and support him as he continues to rebuild his life. We will have no further comment.”
The plea deal will have immediate reverberations in the 2024 presidential election.
Trump criticized the plea deal on Truth Social,
Wow! The corrupt Biden DOJ just cleared up hundreds of years of criminal liability by giving Hunter Biden a mere ‘traffic ticket.’ Our system is BROKEN!”
Hunter Biden will appear in court to plead guilty to the charges at a future date.
