Well, so much for ‘snatchin’ crowns and beating the competition…
Shocked audience members at the Miss Gay Mato Grosso 2023 pageant screamed on Saturday as the partner of first runner-up contestant Nathally Becker, interrupted the crowning ceremony of winner Emannuelly Belini.
Just as the tiara was about to be placed on Belini’s head, Becker’s husband grabbed and hurled it to the stage floor. Miss Cuiabá’s spouse (who is still publicly unidentified) then picked up the crown and smashed it again breaking it into pieces.
He was finally stopped by security.
Pageant coordinator Malone Haenisch, released a statement about the outburst, insisting that the judging was fair and shaming the behavior of Becker’s husband.
He did not consider the result to be fair and caused all this inconvenience and damage.
We vehemently condemn the incident that occurred at the time of the crowning of the elected Miss, when the partner of Miss Cuiabá, who was classified in second place, invaded the stage and aggressively destroyed the crown.”
