Project Rebirth, a new website launched today that will document the construction site at Ground Zero in downtown Manhattan, features six 35mm time-lapse motion picture cameras situated around the site that shoot one frame of film every five minutes, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for the entire reconstruction. Project Rebirth is directed by Jim Whitaker, president of Imagine Entertainment, the production company founded by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer.
The Web site features “live images” from a real-time camera situated atop FDNY Engine 10 / Ladder 10, and information on all aspects of the rebuild, including architectural design, engineering and urban planning. In addition, an interactive “timeline” allows visitors to view selected film footage at key calendar points, and learn more about milestone events in the rebuild process. (More)
