The famous “little black dress” Audrey Hepburn wore as Holly Golightly in 1961’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s has bankrolled a school for 200 children in Bishnupur, India. When the dress’s designer, Hubert de Givenchy, donated it to the City of Joy Foundation to be auctioned at Christie’s in London, it was purchased by an anonymous bidder for $900,000, which was used to fund the first of 15 planned schools in India. Author Dominique Lapierre (at right), who runs the charity, said it was a fitting use of the money since Hepburn spent her last years as an ambassador for the United Nations Children’s Fund. (Source)
