Bobby Brown, former New Edition member and half of the Bobby Brown-Whitney Houston union, will be the subject of a reality series beginning June 30 on Bravo. Being Bobby Brown promises to be eight or 10 episodes of sheer heaven for fans of hell. Whitney will, of course, be so in it, as will the kids: li’l Bobbi Kristina, spawn of Bobby and Whitney, and La Princia, 15, and Bobby Jr, 13, offspring of Bobby and ex-girlfriend Kim Ward. Rapper Bobby has been spending time lately before a Norfolk County probate judge learning the terms of a deal in which he has to pay the $175,000 he didn’t deposit into a college fund for the kids he had with Ward, to whom he pays $5,500 a month for child support – when he pays it, that is. (Payments stopped, apparently, when Nippy went into rehab in March). The 175K will be divided into four installments of $43,750 each, with the first one due May 24. So, with the child support and all, that’s a whole lotta money going out of the house. But no matter. Remember, in that Diane Sawyer interview with Whitney and Bobby back in December of 2002, Whitney said she made a lot of money; way too much money, in fact, to be smoking crack, because crack is cheap. Ooh, let’s listen to that part again.
“I’ve been shooting a television show and recording an album, so it’s hard,” Bobby told the judge. “For me, it’s easy to not know that a payment is not paid because other people are supposed to pay them. My family means everything to me. I’m a happily married man and a devoted father. I just want to be be able to – without all the cameras – handle what I have to handle for my children and not be made into a spectacle. It’s kind of getting to be embarrassing.” Getting? (u.dailynews)
