Everything You Need to Know About the LA Pride/Resist March This Sunday

By James St. James on June 8, 2017 2:04 pm

The Los Angeles Resist March, Sunday, June 11, will start at Hollywood and Highland, since there is a subway station there allowing participants to arrive by mass transit. The march will begin at 8AM and follow a 3.1 mile path down La Brea Avenue, turning onto Santa Monica Boulevard and ending at San Vicente Boulevard, the entrance to the Pride festival.

Organizers are expecting 250,000 to 500,000 marchers to participate, which sounds MAJOR.

So far, the performers on the WeHo stage this year include Brandy, Chromeo, Young M.A., Erika Jayne, Aaron Carter, Brooke Candy, ILOVEMAKONNEN, Spencer Ludwig, Tish Hyman, Leon Else, Connell Cruise, Kat Dahlia and Jesse Montana, with more to be announced.

Single-day tickets for both Saturday and Sunday are $25. Two-day tickets are $35. Beyond the ticket price, you’re also willing to donate a bit extra. Get yours HERE.

Via The Source:

  • The Resist March is beginning right outside the Metro Red Line subway’s Hollyw00d/Highland Station. Expect crowds at that station. If you want to avoid those crowds, you can also exit at Hollywood/Vine Station, a .8-mile walk to Hollywood/Highland.
  • •On Sunday, Red Line trains will be running every 10 minutes with six-car trains. Both Blue and Expo Line trains will be running every 12 minutes with three-car trains.
  • •If riding, we encourage you to buy and load your TAP card ahead of time to avoid long lines at TAP vending machines. You can buy TAP cards and load fares at any Metro Rail or Orange Line station; here’s a system map.
  • •As the march takes place, streets will be closed and traffic in the area may not return to normal until late in the day, so your best option for getting around may be Metro Rail.
  • •The city of West Hollywood will have bus shuttles running Sunday to help people return from the march to the Red Line’s Hollywood/Highland Station. There will be three stops: at the Pacific Design Center (8687 Melrose Ave.), Santa Monica Boulevard & Fairfax Avenue and Santa Monica & La Brea. From there, the buses will run an express route to the Red Line’s Hollywood/Highland Station until about 5:30 p.m.
  • That’s the information for the Resist March. As for the rest of the Pride Festival at West Hollywood Park, there is plenty of bus service:
  • •The city of WeHo is running free shuttles throughout the weekend, with some shuttles running all the way to the Red Line’s Hollywood/Highland Station — see the map above for routes and stops. On Friday, the last bus to Hollywood/Highland will be about 9 p.m. On Saturday, the last bus to Hollywood/Highland is about 1 a.m. On Sunday night, the WeHo shuttles will run on Santa Monica Boulevard only between Robertson and La Brea.
  • •On Friday and Saturday nights, the last Red Line train from Hollywood/Highland to North Hollywood leaves about 2:35 a.m. and the last train to Union Station is about 2:30 a.m.
  • •Several Metro Bus lines provide service to the festival or nearby, including the 4 and 704 on Santa Monica Boulevard, Line 10 on Melrose Avenue, Line 30 on San Vicente Boulevard, the 105 on La Cienega Boulevard and the 217 and 218 on Fairfax Avenue. Please keep in mind there will be bus detours on Sunday due to the Resist March — and possibly at other times over the weekend. Additional Metro staff will be available Beverly/La Cienega and Beverly/San Vicente to provide service info and wayfinding assistance. To check if your bus will be detouring, visit our Service Advisories page. You’ll also be able to find real-time information throughout the day on Twitter @metrolosangeles and @metroLAalerts.
  • Finally, a reminder that Metro will be hosting a pop-up shop on June 11 outside of Division 7, located at the intersection of San Vicente and Santa Monica Boulevard. The pop-up shop will have Pride TAP cards pre-loaded with $1.75 for sale, as well as limited edition Ride with Pride T-shirts, tank tops and tote bags available for purchase. Hours are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until supplies run out, so make sure to swing by early.
