The word “God” was stupidly bleeped out of some airline versions of the Oscar-nominated film The Queen, as in “[Bleep] bless you, ma’am.” An inexperienced employee at Jaguar Distribution, a California company that edits films for in-flight showings, excised the Almighty from the film seven times, having been instructed to eliminate all profanities and blasphemies. “A reference to God is not taboo in any culture that I know of,” said the president of the company. “We excise foul language, excessive violence, and nudity.” Sounds like an honest-to-God mistake to us.
