After eight long months, The Blackest Night of the DC Universe is over. The story arc touched almost every character in every comic book title when all the dead heroes, villains, sidekicks, and love interests EVER WRITTEN ABOUT were brought back to life as evil Black Lantern zombies hellbent on destroying the universe. SPOILER ALERT: They didn’t succeed. And in the end, some of the most beloved dead heroes (and villains) of all time were permanently resurrected, as their old unzombified selves. Chief among them: My first boyfriend Arthur Curry aka Aquaman. LOVE HIM! YAY! Just look how hot he is in this picture. Clearly, being dead for the better part of ten years agrees with him. Also back: Hawkman and Hawkgirl, Hawk and Dove, Firestorm, Professor Zoom, and the Martian Manhunter (who I would TOTALLY DO). Together they are carrying on the story in The Brightest Day, which starts next month, although I’m a little worried about Dead Man, whose sole superpower was his, um, being dead. How he’s going to be a functioning hero without his deadness remains to be seen. Does anybody care about this, or am I just gay-geeking out by myself?
