These vintage interviews with beautiful actresses Julie Christie and Joanna Lumley now seem prophetic. Christie (at left) spent a day in 1965 giving press interviews in New York prior to the release of Dr Zhivago and the interviewers, who hadn’t yet seen the film, were so stupid and discourteous (referring to her in the third person, and couldn’t someone have moved her ashtray closer?) that it’s understandable why she’s shied away from interviews ever since. And there can be no question that the vivacious, slightly zany Lumley (on the right), interviewed here when she was a top model during London’s swinging-’60s era, would become the absolutely fabulous Patsy Stone 30 years later. Watch the Christie and Lumley interviews.
