Last Saturday morning my boyfriend James and I attended the Curious George premiere at the ArcLight Cinerama Dome in Hollywood. The movie is simply adorable, just cute-as-a-fuzzy-monkey-cupcake. Admittedly, the dramatic tension lagged a little in the third act, and the critique of exotic animal imports wasn’t quite as provocative as I hoped it might have been, but then again Curious George is intended for seven-year-olds. So why the hell was I there? Why, for the fabulous kiddy after-party of course!
We went wild in the toddler’s ball crawl, had monkey tattoos painted on our cheeks, and generally ran riot, fueled by excessive amounts of Dole Apple & Cranberry juice. (Dole sponsored the premiere in return for some shameless product placement in the movie, as George travels to America on a Dole Banana boat. Get ’em while they’re young!). We scarfed PB&J sandwiches, played frisbee with mini pizzas, and laughed at how rude it looked when the Hollywood Moms ate bun-less hotdogs (Mommie’s on Atkins). But of course there can be too much of a good thing, and by 2PM we got tired and irritable, and James threw up his third chocolate banana, so we went home for an afternoon nap.
