June 11 is almost here!
Are you excited for the premiere of our Lifetime movie, Menendez: Blood Brothers, directed by WOW’s own Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, on Sunday, June 11 at 8/7c?
We can’t WAIT for the world to see the film. The movie chronicles the story of Lyle & Erik Menendez, played by Nico Tortorella and Myko Olivier, who murdered their parents Kitty and Jose, played by Courtney Love and Benito Martinez, and the subsequent events that happened after.
Benito Martinez spoke with Channel Guide Magazine and talked about what it was like filming with Randy and Fenton, being around Courtney Love, and so much more!
When asked about telling the much argued about backstory, Martinez explained their reasons behind the motivations to Channel Guide Magazine:
“We try to give credence to the reasons that the boys have given about why they hated their parents so much. Fenton and Randy did a great job of taking us on a journey as to what it must have been like to be raised in a family that had all the money in the world but a very overpowering and misogynistic father who was trying to raise his kids in his own image. To that degree, the monster was raising monsters.”
Benito continued, while also raving about co-star Courtney Love and her acting abilities:
“[Kitty gave up an exciting life to live under] the shadow of this man and his boys, who were just living their lives as complete destroyers. At this point in the story, Kitty was a fractured person who was constantly trying to numb herself from the reality of what she was seeing around her — which was that her kids were out of control and her husband didn’t love her anymore. Courtney was brilliant in that.”
Sounds like we’re in for a roller coaster ride of a film that shows a different perspective than what you may remember about the Menendez Brothers story. Will you be tuning in?
