As we’ve been teasing you a few times already, the beloved Wowlebrity Amy Sedaris has a new TV show. Growing up in North Carolina, Amy was obsessed with what she refers to as “hospitality shows,” where hosts would convey entertain experts in their “homes” — which were sets. (Sorry for spoiling that. There’s no tooth fairy either.)
For At Home with Amy Sedaris she wanted her own cracked version,
“I wanted that ‘I Dream of Jeannie’ feel, where she’s in the bottle and there’s no other, outside world.”
It’s all assembled with painstaking detail, as pal Todd Oldham pics show, down to the fake food products in the fridge. The “Concord” -brand shortening, heavy cream, and pickles have Amy’s face on the labels which is a painting of her by her sister, done when they were kids.
“It’s based on my apartment. It’s just bigger, with a nicer refrigerator.”
As you can see, the set also has a beautiful lace potty skirt and a lampshade made from sample strips of fake hair. Sedaris has one at home that she made herself plus, like any good dressing area, a wall of wigs. Asked if it’s called “the wig wall,” Sedaris said,
“It is now.”
At Home with Amy Sedaris premieres October 24 on truTV. (I just got invited to the viewing party! So I’ll report back!)
Have a look around, but stay on the runner.
