According to a new CNN poll, Melania Trump, whose favorability stood at 54% in October, has slipped to 43% in just two months.
36% found her unfavorable, a 6-point increase in the negative since October. (The poll was conducted from December 6-9 among a sample of 1,015 respondents.)
An 11-point drop, who has for most of 2018 maintained positive polling numbers, staying in the high-40s to high-50s, is not so good, but at least she’s not under indictment like so many close to her husband.
CNN says FLOTUS’s popularity peaked in May at 57%, following her first official State Dinner.
This most recent poll is still 13 points higher than the first lady’s lowest polling numbers. Her strongest support is from older, white, male Republicans and conservatives, while her biggest detractors are women, mainly younger and college-educated.
Some of her greatest hits that may have contributed are:
• Her quote, “I’m the most bullied person on the world.”
• The jacket worn to meet refugees at the border, “I really don’t care, do you?”
• Her ABC News interview when she said women who accuse men of sexual misconduct must have “hard evidence.”
• In September 2017, while hosting local schoolchildren in the White House Kitchen Garden (founded by Michelle Obama) she wore an $1000 Balmain plaid shirt posing awkwardly in squeaky-clean Converse sneakers.
In her latest boo-hoo quote in an interview with Sean Hannity on FoxNews, she said that the hardest part of her job is,
“I would say the opportunists who are using my name or my family name to advance themselves, from comedians to journalists to performers, book writers.“
She said this sporting a new blonde do, that is a DON’T for a First Lady. But honestly, I really DON’T care, do you?
