Katie Hawley wasn’t home when a black bear broke into her house in Vail, Colorado. Well, he didn’t break in, because left the kitchen window unlocked, but the bear slid it right open.
Security camera footage revealed that the bear also sat on the coffee table, played the piano on his hind legs, opened the refrigerator, and the freezer, ate a gallon bag of frozen strawberries and bananas, drank pancake syrup and ate peanut butter out of a jar. Hawley said,
“That was the crazy thing. He twisted the lid and opened it himself.”
Bears will apparently do a lot for food, including breaking and entering. And returning to the scene of the crime.
The bear came back about an hour later and police returned to chase him up the hill. Hawley said she heard it come back a few more times that day to pound at the window too.
Now that kitchen window is boarded up, and Hawley says she checks to make sure no bear is around when she gets home.
“I think the bear is very cute. But it just scares me he was in the house.”
Watch.
