This one is bizarre and even after you hear the details, it still doesn’t really make sense. Sue Stenhouse, the executive director of Cranston Rhode Island’s Senior Enrichment Center, resigned last week after asking a male bus driver to wear a wig, earrings, and lipstick so that he would look like an elderly woman when he stood behind Stenhouse at a press conference.
Yes, the old lady here (on the right) with a handmade Cranston Senior Home Resident sticker on her lapel is really a senior center employee named David Roberts. According to local TV station, Stenhouse held the press conference last week to announce a new program that would have students shoveling snow for the elderly. The weird plot was supposed to put across a positive image to the media. Now the worldwide media is sharing the story.
Stenhouse resigned last week and sad when confronted by a reporter at her home,
“I’ve been in a meeting all night being a great public servant for the city of Warwick –and now I get this bullshit!”
You kiss your grandma with that mouth? Mr. Roberts, who drives a van that transports senior citizens, got his wig from a local beauty salon. According to the salon’s owner, Elaine Mancuso,
“He says to me, ‘Elaine, do you have a wig that I could borrow? I have to get dressed as a senior. I said, ‘Oh, my God. He wanted it for that.’ I probably would have given him a better wig if I had known.”
Not sure it would have made a better picture, Elaine.
