When the Beat Drops is coming to your TV soon!
After making the festival rounds this year (and winning TWO awards might we add!) our documentary When the Beat Drops directed by Jamal Sims and produced by Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato, & Jordan Finnegan, officially has a premiere date!
After winning the Knight Documentary Achievement Award at the 2018 Miami Film Festival and the Outstanding Documentary Jury Award at Frameline42, When the Beat Drops will be airing on Logo on Thursday, August 9th at 8pm!
Just in case you live under a rock and haven’t heard about it, When the Beat Drops:
“…follows a crew of gay African-American men as they pioneer the Southern-rooted underground dance scene known as “bucking.” Together with his crew of fellow gay African-American men, Anthony Davis, a heavy-set, Atlanta-born kid with a love of dance, helped grow bucking into a national movement, complete with fierce competitions. In the process, Davis created a haven for a generation of displaced black gay men.”
If you can’t wait for August 9th to watch the premiere of the film on Logo, then you can catch When the Beat Drops early during its screening as the Documentary Centerpiece for the Outfest Film Festival in LA on July 19th. Get your tickets for the screening now!
