Divine now has a divine, new limited-edition golden likeness…
Artist and social media star, Joshua David McKenney, has collaborated with the estate of Divine to re-interpret the John Waters’ muse as a gilded deity.
McKenney says,
Divine’s impact is hard to overstate, particularly on queer culture.
She was this larger-than-life, almost superhuman persona that completely subverted conventions of beauty, gender and performance.
As a queer artist, it seems fitting to reimagine this performer that many consider profane as a sacred idol.”

A self-taught sculptor, McKenney left a career in fashion illustration to create Pidgin Doll, a handmade artist doll he produces himself

McKenney got a call from Divine’s estate shortly after completing another sculpture collaboration with NYC trans icon Amanda Lepore.

A Divine sculpture seemed like the perfect follow-up to the Amanda Lepore project. Divine and Amanda are both trailblazers who speak to the queer experience in unique and powerful ways.”
With over 3 million fans on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram, Pidgin has evolved into a multimedia endeavor encompassing dolls, sculpture, illustration, and digital content.
I think of Pidgin almost as a drag expression. She’s how I express my love of femininity.”
