Michelangelo’s David is one of the most famous sculptures in the world and was the subject of New York magazine’s Jerry Saltz underground experiment. To see what New Yorkers make of David he drug a replica into the NYC subway and asked questions like,

“What is he holding?

How old is he?

Why is he naked?“

But people mostly seemed concerned with the size of his manhood.
