Omgomgomg. Our prayers have finally been answered. O-Town is GETTING BACK TOGETHER AGAIN! Just breathe. Don’t scream. Don’t cry. DAMNIT JAMES, HOLD IT TOGETHER! The band, put together by King Perv Lou Perlman for the ABC reality show Making the Band back in 2000, was THE BIGGEST BOYBAND IN THE WORLD, if you recall, with worldwide hits like this
Good stuff. Still holds up RAWTHER NICELY, I think.
The breakout star, of course, was Ashley Parker Angel. Or Angel Parker Ashley. Or Ashley Angel Parker. Something like that. He was cute. He went on to have two INCREDIBLY SUCCESSFUL MTV reality shows of his own (actually not that successful, but my GOD he was pretty in them).
Definitely better with the mid-aught boy bangs, though (it was a moment in time. Sigh. Remember how cute was everybody in 2008?). Anyway. He also starred on Broadway as Link Larkin in Hairspray and made a movie with Frankie Muze that never came out, but THAT’S SHOW BIZ.
Then there was cutie-patootie little bro-hunk Erik-Michael Estrada (not affiliated with CHiPs).
And BAD-BOY Jacob Underwood (you could tell because he had CRAZY HAIR).
Now he looks like this.
But then time is a bitch to us all, and that’s OK.
Anyway. They’re back. O-Town is back! According to Billboard:
O-Town announced its reformation on Monday (Mar. 31), rebooting its official website and teasing more specifics to follow in the coming weeks. New music — the group’s first batch since 2002’s “O2” album — is indeed in the works, according to O-Town member Jacob Underwood.
“We started this reunion purely for the fun of it,” says Underwood. “We had discussed a summer tour to perform our old songs and finally give the fans what they’ve been asking us for the last 10 years. However, once we began working, what developed was something a little more ambitious. The ideas kept flying and we couldn’t help but start making new music.”
Erik Michael Estrada adds, “Each of us have different reasons for agreeing to do this again, a decade later. Mine has to start with the fans. I never knew how much I would miss them. I never quite realized how much of an impact we had on them.”
